Israel Tourism Ministry launched Google advertising campaign in US, Britain and Germany markets
Israel Tourism Ministry launched a NIS 360,000 ($84,000) Pay-Per-Click (PPC) campaign on search engine Google. The online advertising campaign, which started in early October, has exposed surfers in the US, Britain and Germany, to sponsored links that lead to the marketing websites of the Tourism Ministry.
Religious topics dominating the searches in the first month of the Google campaign, according to the analysis of the Tourism Ministry. Approximately 42% of surfers in the US were seeking Jewish-related information and 29% on Christian subjects, whereas 24% of UK searches were Jewish-related and 20% linked to Christian topics. Some 15% of the total sought specific information on Eilat.
In studies conducted by the American Travel Industry Association (TIA), 91 per cent of respondents said that they purchase travel products exclusively online. In 2004, Americans spent $68 billion online for travel-related products and services, while Europeans spent 10 billion Euros.
